Wings and Pizza Still Big Winners On Super Bowl Sunday 🏈

If you think the Super Bowl is all about football, you’re about half right! Last year’s Big Game data proves what we’ve all suspected: America’s real MVP on championship Sunday is the spread. With over 5.7 million orders placed last year, the food game can be just as intense as what happened on the field. And this year? The trends are pointing to wings, pizza, and loaded everything dominating watch parties once again!
Here’s a fact you may have heard: Super Bowl Sunday is the number one day of the year for chicken wing orders! Last year, over 639,000 wing orders flew out of kitchens on DoorDash alone. Wings aren’t just popular, they’re essential!
And who wins the flavor showdown? Buffalo sauce dominated in 39 states, proving that classic never goes out of style. Georgia stayed loyal to lemon pepper wings (Atlanta’s iconic flavor), while New Mexico was the lone ranger choosing ranch-flavored wings.
Ready to wing it this Sunday? KFC has a special for 20 wings for $20 now through Feb. 11. You’ll get your choice of Hot & Spicy or Honey BBQ wings, plus four dip cups of your choosing.
The race between wings and pizza was nail-bitingly close last year, with pizza snagging runner-up status on DoorDash with over 637,000 orders. That’s enough pizza to feed a sold-out Levi’s Stadium (the host of this year’s Super Bowl) crowd nearly 10 times! When it comes to toppings, pepperoni ruled in 39 states, but the Northeast kept things classic with plain cheese pizza dominating 11 states.
Pizza for your party? Pizza Hut’s got their massive Big New Yorker pizza for just $10! This 16-inch beauty features six extra-large, foldable slices with a New York-style crust seasoned with parmesan and oregano.
Move over, traditional game day appetizers: loaded fries claimed the crown! The cheesy, bacon-topped favorite took the number one spot in 34 states. But the real plot twist? Dumplings secured top billing in 10 states (including New York and Massachusetts), while egg rolls and spring rolls dominated in four others.
Based on last year’s ordering frenzy, here’s what else made the cut for championship Sunday lineups:
Mozzarella sticks
Queso and chips (Tostitos Scoops for the win!)
Buffalo chicken dip ingredients
Pigs in a blanket ingredients
Beer buckets featuring Michelob Ultra, Corona, and Coors Light
Pro tip: Last year’s ordering frenzy peaked between 6:00 and 6:30pm ET just before game time. Beat the surge by placing your order by 4:30pm ET so your spread arrives before the pregame rush hits and you can actually enjoy watching instead of tracking your delivery driver!
While we don’t know if the Seahawks or Patriots will win the big game, wings and pizza winning over your party guests is a sure bet.
