Ever feel like you’re missing out on something good while everyone else seems to know the code? That’s basically the magic of secret menus. These off-the-books items aren’t listed anywhere, but they’re totally real and totally orderable. The coolest part? A few of these “secrets” have gotten so popular that chains have actually added them to their official menus.

Let’s dive into the insider orders you need to know about.

Chipotle’s Quesarito

This one’s been floating around for years, and it’s basically the ultimate Chipotle indulgence. The Quesarito is a burrito that’s wrapped in a cheese quesadilla instead of a regular tortilla. It costs an extra $3.50 on top of your regular burrito price.

In-N-Out’s Not-So-Secret Menu

In-N-Out basically invented the secret menu game, and their off-menu items are so well-known at this point that employees expect you to order them. Here’s what to try:
  • Animal Style – This is the gateway to In-N-Out’s secret world. Get your burger or fries topped with their special spread, grilled onions, and pickles. You can also request extra packets of the spread.
  • Flying Dutchman – Two beef patties with two slices of melted cheese sandwiched between them. No bun, no veggies, just pure protein
  • 4×4 – Exactly what it sounds like: four beef patties and four slices of cheese for around $9. It’s massive, messy, and absolutely not for the faint of heart (or small appetites).

McDonald’s DIY Creations

McDonald’s secret menu might require a bit of assembly on your part, but these combinations have serious cult followings.
  • Land, Sea & Air Burger – Order a Big Mac, a McChicken, and a Filet-O-Fish separately, then stack them all together into one towering monstrosity. You get beef (land), chicken (air), and fish (sea) in every bite. It’s ridiculous, massive, and people absolutely love it.
  • Apple Pie McFlurry –  Some locations will mix this one for you, but some will let you do the honors. Order a vanilla McFlurry and a hot apple pie, then crumble the warm pie into your ice cream. Note: Some regions offer these for a limited time – but not in the US so far.

Jersey Mike’s #99

This beast of a sandwich combines two of Jersey Mike’s cheesesteaks into one ultimate creation. The name comes from the menu numbers: #56 (Big Kahuna) + #43 (Chipotle Cheesesteak) = #99. You get grilled steak, onions, peppers, mushrooms, jalapeños, white American cheese, and smoky chipotle mayo all piled onto rosemary parmesan bread.

Burger King’s Rodeo Burger

Remember this one? The Rodeo Burger was briefly on Burger King’s official menu back in the day, but it’s been discontinued and brought back so many times that it’s basically settled into permanent secret menu status. It’s beautifully simple: a cheeseburger topped with crunchy onion rings and tangy BBQ sauce.

From Secret to Official

Here’s where things get really interesting. Some secret menu hacks get so popular that restaurants just give up and make them official.

For years, people in the know would ask Chick-fil-A to blend their Icedream (that’s their soft serve) with fountain drinks to create frosted versions of everything from Dr Pepper to root beer. Then in January 2026, Chick-fil-A made it official, adding Frosted Sodas (blended) and Floats (layered).

The same thing happened with Starbucks’ Medicine Ball, which fans had been ordering for years by describing the ingredients (Jade Citrus Mint tea plus Peach Tranquility tea with steamed lemonade and honey). It got so popular that Starbucks finally put it on the official menu as the Honey Citrus Mint Tea

Secret menus are all about knowing what’s possible with the ingredients already available. Most of these items need to be ordered in person rather than through apps, and not every staff member will recognize the names right away.
